Terms of Use — Qubit PDF Editor

Effective date: 19 September 2026

Last updated: 19 September 2026

Applies to: Qubit PDF Editor (Android), package com.qubit.pdfeditor, version 1.0.0 and later until superseded

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and QubitSofTech ("we", "us", "our"), a software development company based in India, governing your use of the mobile application Qubit PDF Editor ("Qubit" or "the app").

QubitSofTech is the organisation that publishes Qubit, and is the party to this agreement. It can be reached at the address in section 18.

By downloading, installing or using Qubit, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app and please uninstall it. A shorter form of these Terms is shown inside the app under Settings → Legal → Terms of use; where the two differ, this page governs.

Qubit is distributed worldwide through Google Play. These Terms are written to work internationally: section 16 sets a governing law, but nothing in these Terms takes away consumer rights that the law of your own country gives you and does not allow to be signed away. Where a clause here conflicts with such a right, that right wins, and the rest of these Terms still stand.

1. Licence to use the app

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to install and use Qubit on any Android device that you own or control, for your own personal or internal business use, in accordance with these Terms and the Google Play Terms of Service.

This is a licence, not a sale. We retain all rights not expressly granted.

2. What you may not do

You agree not to:

3. Your documents are yours

You keep every right in the documents you open, and Qubit claims none of them. We do not receive, see, store or review your documents at any point: the app runs entirely on your device, and our Privacy Policy describes exactly what that means. Because of that, we cannot recover a document for you, and we cannot know what any document contains.

You are responsible for having the right to open, change, save and share every document you use Qubit on.

4. Lawful use, and your responsibility for what you produce — read this section

Qubit is a tool for working with documents, in the same way that a pen, a scanner or a word processor is. What you do with it is your decision and your responsibility alone.

4.1 Prohibited uses

You must not use Qubit to forge, falsify, fabricate, tamper with or alter any document unlawfully, or in order to deceive or defraud any person, company, institution or authority. Without limiting that, you must not use Qubit to:

Whether a particular edit is lawful depends on the law that applies to you, to the document, and to the use you intend for it. Some of the acts above are serious crimes in most countries. If you are not sure whether an edit is lawful, do not make it.

4.2 You are solely responsible

You are solely responsible for every document you create, change, save, convert or share with Qubit, for how it is used, by you or by anyone you give it to, and for every consequence of that use — including all legal consequences, civil and criminal, and any loss suffered by any third party.

Qubit runs entirely on your device. QubitSofTech never sees your documents, cannot know what you use the app for, does not monitor, review, approve or certify anything you produce with it, and has no ability to prevent any particular use. Accordingly, QubitSofTech accepts no responsibility and no liability of any kind for any document produced, altered or distributed with Qubit, for any use made of it, or for any claim, demand, loss, damage, fine, penalty, investigation, prosecution or proceeding that arises from it — whether brought by a person, a company or a public authority, and whether against you or against us.

4.3 Indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless QubitSofTech, its owners, officers, employees and contractors from and against any claim, liability, loss, damage, cost or expense — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of or connected with your breach of this section 4, your use of Qubit in breach of any law, or any document you produce or distribute with it.

4.4 Consequences of breach

If you use Qubit in breach of this section, your licence to use the app ends immediately and automatically, without notice. We may also cooperate with law enforcement and courts where required by law; because we hold no information about you or your documents, that cooperation is limited to what the law compels of us.

5. Signatures and legal effect

Qubit's Fill and sign tools let you complete a form and draw a signature onto a page. They do not create a cryptographic digital signature, and nothing in Qubit certifies who made a change, when it was made, or that a document has not been altered since. Do not rely on a document edited in Qubit as proof of signing, identity or integrity where a certified digital signature, a notarised document or a wet-ink original is required, and do not represent it to anyone as having that status.

6. Age requirement

Qubit is offered to a general audience aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, you may use the app only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf. If you are under 13, please do not use the app.

In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the age of consent for online services is between 13 and 16 depending on the country; if you are below that age where you live, your parent or guardian must accept these Terms and make any advertising consent choice on your behalf.

7. Edit Points and advertising

Qubit is provided free of charge and is funded by advertising supplied by Google AdMob.

7.1 What is free and what costs an Edit Point

Reading, searching, annotating, filling forms and signing, recognising the text on scans, compressing, converting a file to another format, saving and sharing are free. Operations that change what a document says or how its pages are arranged — editing text, tables and pictures, adding or removing headers and footers, rotating, deleting, duplicating and reordering pages, merging and extracting — require one Edit Point, which you earn by choosing to watch a rewarded video advertisement.

A point unlocks editing for as long as that document is open, however many changes you make, and saving costs nothing further. A point is credited only when Google's SDK reports the reward as earned; if you close an ad early no point is earned, and the app will tell you so rather than charging you for it.

7.2 Nature of Edit Points

Edit Points have no monetary value, are not currency, cannot be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged for money, and are not refundable. They are stored on your device only and are lost if you uninstall the app or clear its data. We may change how points are earned or what they unlock in a future version.

7.3 Advertising

We may change, add, remove or reposition advertising in future versions.

8. Accuracy, and what the app cannot do

PDF is a large and inconsistently implemented format. Qubit is designed and tested to handle documents faithfully, and it never writes to your original file — but you are responsible for checking the result of every edit, conversion and recognition before you rely on it or send it to anyone. In particular:

Keep your own copies of anything important. A document that other software produced in an unusual way may not open, may not edit cleanly, or may not look identical after being saved.

9. Your data and your content

Qubit stores working copies, recent-document entries, settings, Edit Points and activity counts only on your device. We do not receive them and cannot recover them for you.

You are solely responsible for your documents and data. Uninstalling the app, clearing its data, changing devices, or a device fault or loss will permanently destroy anything that was only there, with no backup on our side. Our handling of information is described fully in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

10. Intellectual property

The app — including its source code, user interface, layout, icons, artwork, branding, the name "Qubit PDF Editor", the short name "Qubit" and the company name "QubitSofTech" — is owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms gives you any right in it beyond the licence in section 1.

Qubit includes third-party open-source software, including PdfBox-Android (Apache License 2.0). Those components remain under their own licences, and nothing in these Terms limits your rights under them.

"Google", "Google Play", "Android", "AdMob" and "ML Kit" are trademarks of Google LLC. "PDF" is a format standardised as ISO 32000. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google or by Adobe.

11. Third-party services

The app relies on services we neither own nor control: Google Play and Google AdMob. Their availability, content and conduct are their own responsibility, and their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them. We are not liable for any third-party service becoming unavailable, changing, or ceasing to operate. If advertising is unavailable, Edit Points cannot be earned until it returns; every free feature keeps working.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Qubit is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or compatible with every device, document or Android version, or that any document it produces will be accepted by any person, organisation or authority.

This section does not exclude or limit any warranty, guarantee or remedy that the law of your country gives you as a consumer and does not allow to be excluded. In particular, and without limiting the general rule stated at the top of these Terms: consumers in the European Union and the United Kingdom keep their statutory rights in respect of digital content that is not as described or not of satisfactory quality; consumers in India keep their rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019; consumers in Australia keep the guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

These limits apply regardless of the legal theory of the claim and even if we were advised of the possibility of the loss. They do not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or to any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited where you live.

14. Updates, changes and availability

We may release updates, add or remove features, or discontinue the app entirely at any time. Some updates may be required for the app to keep working. Android and Google Play may deliver updates automatically according to your device settings. We are under no obligation to provide support, maintenance or future versions.

The app is not necessarily available in every country. Where consumer law requires notice before a change that materially affects you, we will give that notice through the app or its Play Store listing.

15. Export control and sanctions

You may not use or export Qubit in violation of any applicable export control or sanctions laws. You confirm that you are not located in, and are not a national of or ordinarily resident in, a country or territory subject to comprehensive trade sanctions, and that you are not on any restricted-party list under those laws.

16. Governing law and where disputes are heard

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts at East Champaran, Bihar, India — where QubitSofTech is registered — have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them.

If you are a consumer, that is subject to two important qualifications:

Before starting formal proceedings, please email us — most issues are settled faster that way. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.
